Quantum Spinal Biomechanics3

What is the QSM3 procedure?

The QSM3(Quantum Spinal Mechanics 3) is the most progressive upper cervical chiropractic procedure in the world corrected by hand.

Our correction is very gentle and does not involve any twisting, popping, or cracking of the spine. The correction is determined carefully by posture-measuring device data that is updated at every visit. Data collected include the pelvic tilt, the heavier weight difference between the left or right side, the lower side of the shoulder tilt, the side of the neck tilt, the side of the head tilt, and the twist/rotation of the shoulder area, and the twist/rotation of the pelvis. After correction, we measure the postural date again, making sure of the posture and checking how much your body can handle the correction.

What makes QSM3 different than other upper cervical procedures?

Before the founding of QSM3, ‘single bone (atlas) out of place’ was the main philosophy for most upper cervical procedures. Don’t get me wrong, the ‘single bone out of place’ treatment technique has shown positive results to remove nerve interference and somewhat change posture. However, there is a limitation with this philosophy in that it cannot fully restore posture ‘on-center position.’ Muscles and ligaments holding the right position to support the spine and the entire body are called tensegrity structures.

The tension (ligaments/muscles) and integrity (bones) make up the spine structure. In the muscular system, a very thin sheath is present in every single muscle of the body called the myofascial envelope. The myofascial envelope is connected like the train track from the back of the head down to the heel called the anatomy train.

Our posture is supported by tensegrity structure and myofascial envelope. If you experience trauma to the body, the body reacts to the trauma and alters the structure to protect the important organ. Therefore, the tension pathway is built on the myofascial envelope to adapt to the structural changes. The upper cervical area is the conjunction area of the tension pathway. Because of the unique structure of the atlas, the force travels down the body releasing tension throughout the anatomy train.

In the past, an X-ray was mandatory to determine the need to give an upper cervical adjustment to the patient. However, since QSM3 is not adjusting a single bone into a place, the posture measurement reading decides how and where to correct the tension pathway.

In conclusion, the QSM3 is precise, scientific, and a progressive upper cervical chiropractic procedure.

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a philosophy of health, a science of the nervous system and spine, and the art of helping people regain their health naturally. It recognizes that all organic systems in the universe are conscious, self-developing, self-maintaining, and self-healing.

Chiropractics believes that the body works best when the nervous system is free of damaging interferences, which cause malfunction, symptoms and diseases, and reduced quality of life. It observes that there are three interferences: physical trauma, emotional stresses, and environmental toxins. Interference from physical trauma is called a subluxation.

Chiropractors correct subluxation, allowing your nervous system to function more normally, releasing your body’s innate potential to regain health naturally, and paving the way for you to experience wellness throughout life.

What is an Upper Cervical?

Upper cervical means the atlas (first bone in the neck) and the axis (second bone in the neck) in your body that connects the head and neck. There is no disc between the atlas and axis unlike other vertebrae in your body. Therefore, it could move further and more freely than other vertebrae.

Muscles and ligaments hold the atlas and axis in their place and within the space of the atlas and the axis, the brainstem (nerve bundle from the brain) passes through. The brainstem has a crucial role in which it functions to control and process signals from the brain to the rest of the body. The brainstem has an important role to control and process the signal from the brain.

What do you expect from the correction?

The first stage is called the decompression stage. It means that when our body is exposed or has experienced trauma, the body tries to compensate the posture with a protection mechanism.

Once the body is at the “off-center posture” from the ground, gravity is the worst enemy to your body as it tries to go back to the “on-center position.” The reason is, that if your posture is not at 90 degrees (called orthogonal) from the ground, the body is more vulnerable to gravity. When gravity affects the “off-center posture”, the body is compressed toward the ground and is rotated around the spine.

Our first goal is to decompress your spine as well as restore the posture and put the body to an “on-center position” so that the body can handle the gravity better.

The second stage is the stabilization stage. Although we reached the “on-center position,” the body is not strong enough to maintain the perfect posture. In addition, your muscles were trained for the “off-center posture” for a long period of time. The wrongfully trained muscle can easily put the posture back to the “off-center position” without a new trauma. To prevent this unstable posture of the body, we need to re-educate the postural muscle along with exercise and stretching.

The final stage is the optimization stage. With the perfect posture, the healing cycle of the body is accelerated. Therefore, we need to supply good nutrition to the body to rejuvenate the cellular level. With all that, the body will be empowered by the QSM3 procedure and goes to the highest status of health as well. As an outcome, we reached perfect posture and the healing process of the body is accelerated.
